Directors & Officers Liability Insurance

Directors & Officers liability insurance is designed to help protect the organization, its mission and its directors and officers if they are sued by vendors, current or former employees, donors, beneficiaries or other parties. Suits can claim actual or alleged errors, misleading statements, breach of duty or misuse of funds or authority, putting the mission of the organization as well as the personal assets of board members at risk in defending against these suits. Directors & Officers liability insurance for nonprofit organizations offers protection for the risks that nonprofit organization face. Nonprofit Directors & Officers liability coverage not only includes coverages for the defense costs, settlements and judgments associated with claims against nonprofit organizations but also helps protect the personal assets of an organization’s directors and board members.

Who is covered by the insurance program?

Rotaractors (and volunteers) are covered with respect to their liability for acts within the course and scope of their duties on behalf of a Rotaract Club or District.

How much does the Insurance Program cost?

Rotarians pay an insurance assessment which is collected on the July Club Invoice from RI. For example, in 2021-22, the rate varied from $2.49 - $8.90 per Rotarian per year, depending on the state, for General Liability, and $0.99 per Rotarian for Directors & Officers Liability. At present, Rotaractors do not have to pay insurance assessments to RI.
