Google Meet

Overview

Big West Rotaract Foundation is pleased to offer Google Meet as an alternative to Zoom for hosting virtual meetings. As part of our Google Workspace license, all user accounts enjoy access to the following business features at no cost:

Customizations

BWR has designated certain default settings. Certain defaults may be changed on scheduled meetings - email digitalservices@bigwestrotaract.org for assistance.

Host Management

Host management has been turned off by default, but may be enabled within meeting settings.

Meeting Access

Meetings are open to any participant by default (regardless of whether they are logged into a BWR or other Google account). If you wish to restrict access or utilize a waiting room, schedule the meeting through Google Calendar and visit the video call options page.

Telephony

Google offers BWR dial-in & dial-out access for over 65 countries & regions at no additional cost (see list here). Other countries are available for an additional charge, however BWR has opted to turn off this feature. Meeting attendees from outside the 65+ supported dial-in countries & regions are encouraged to use Google Meet through the Chrome web browser or iOS/Android mobile applications.

Interoperability

Although Google Meet can be configured to connect to Cisco Webex, Microsoft Skype, and other video conferencing platforms, BWR has opted not to make this feature available to end users. Rotaractors and external partners are encouraged to use Google Meet through the Chrome web browser or iOS/Android mobile applications.
